Provide Commerce Leadership Team

Bill Strauss joined us in April 1998 as President and Chief Operating Officer. In November 1999, Bill was promoted to Chief Executive Officer and was elected a member of our board of directors in December 1998. From October 2001 to November 2004, Bill was also our Assistant Secretary. Prior to joining us, Bill was part of the senior management team at ChipSoft, Inc., the makers of TurboTax, which was acquired by Intuit, Inc. in 1993. In the early 1990s, Bill was Vice President of Operations for Hanover Direct, a large catalog company. Bill holds a BA in Accounting from Syracuse University.


Abe Wynperle joined us in November 1999 through our merger with Flower Farm Direct, Inc. Abe has more than 20 years of experience in the fresh cut flower industry. In May 2000, Abe became our President and Chief Operating Officer and a member of our board of directors, from which he resigned in 2003. Prior to joining us, Abe was Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flower Farm Direct, Inc., a direct-from-the-grower Internet floral retailer from January 1998 to November 1999. Prior to that, Abe was Chief Executive Officer of Sunburst Farms-Floramerica Group, which was sold to Dole Food Company, Inc. in 1997. Abe holds an MBA and a BBA from the University of Puget Sound.


Blake Bilstad joined us in April 2004 as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. Prior to joining us, from November 2001 to April 2004, Blake worked with Vivendi Universal Net USA Group, Inc., the U.S. group of internet companies owned by Vivendi Universal S.A., a French entertainment and telecommunications conglomerate, serving most recently as the group's Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs and Secretary. From June 1999 to November 2001, Blake was with MP3.com, Inc., an online music company that was acquired by Vivendi Universal in August 2001, and held a variety of legal positions at MP3.com including Vice President of Corporate Legal Affairs, Corporate Counsel and Secretary. From November 1996 to June 1999, Blake served as a business associate at the law firm of Cooley Godward LLP. Blake holds a JD from Harvard Law School and a BA in History from Duke University.


Rex Bosen joined us in September 2002 as Vice President of Finance and Accounting. In October 2002, Rex became our Corporate Treasurer and served as our Secretary from September 2003 through April 2004. Then in August 2009, Rex was promoted to Senior Vice President of Finance and Accounting. Prior to joining us, from September 1999 through January 2001, Rex co-founded and served as Chief Financial Officer at PhatPipe, Inc., a start-up company involved with the provision of high speed internet access and e-commerce. From September 1992 through October 1999, Rex served as the Controller at E/G Electro-graph, Inc., a manufacturing company. From August 1984 to September 1992, Rex worked at Price Waterhouse. Rex holds a MAcc and a BS in Accounting from Brigham Young University.


Adam Fischer joined us in April 2003 as Director of Strategic Analysis and Forecasting. In August 2004, he became Vice President, Planning and Forecasting and in August 2008, he was promoted to Senior Vice President, Analytics and Optimization. Prior to joining us, Adam was Chief of Staff and Vice President of Finance at RentAnything, Inc., an e-commerce marketplace which he co-founded in September 1999. From August 1997 to September 1999, Adam worked as a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group. From September 1993 to September 1995, he worked at Accenture as a systems consultant. Adam holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, a MS in Electrical Engineering and a BS in Physics from the University of California at Santa Barbara.


Steve Goldstein joined us in July 2004 as Vice President and General Manager of the Gourmet Food Business Unit and was promoted in October 2005 to Senior Vice President of the Gourmet Food Business Unit. In June 2007, his role expanded to Senior Vice President of the Gourmet Food Business Unit and Retention Marketing. Prior to joining us, from October 2002 to June 2004, Steve was Vice President and General Manager at Gateway Inc. where he ran the software and peripherals business. From May 1999 to October 2002, Steve held various senior management positions at Peregrine Systems including Area Vice President and General Manager of Asset Management Solutions. Additionally, Steve was an associate with Hanna Ventures, a venture capital firm. Prior to this, he was a management consultant with Bain & Company. Steve holds an MBA from Stanford University and a BS in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.


Penny Handscomb joined us in May 1999 as the Vice President of Human Resources and Training and was then promoted in August 2009 to Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Training. She came to us with over 14 years of experience in the Human Resource field. For the past several years, Penny has been responsible for setting the strategic and operational development of the HR function for startup companies mainly in the Call Center industry as well as having worked in the Software, CTI industry. She has worked extensively throughout Canada and the U.S. in addition to working internationally. In doing so, Penny was responsible for setting the strategy and the systems required in the areas of: training, organizational development, performance management, compensation, recruitment and selection and employee relations. Penny graduated from the University of Waterloo and from Wilfrid Laurier University, Ontario. She has received CHRP and CHRM designations which are recognized in Canada and internationally as well as her SPHR certification.


John Kuehn joined us in August 2005 as Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Operations. Prior to joining us, from April 2003 to July 2005, John was Vice President of Planning & Logistics at Gateway Inc. From October 2000 to March 2003, he served as Senior Director of Worldwide Logistics for Apple Computer. John worked from 1998 to 2000 in various supply chain transformation, technology development and integration roles for AnswerThink Consulting Group and ClearCross Inc. From January 1995 to July 1998 John managed Global Logistics for Komag Inc., the world's largest manufacturer of thin-film media. Additionally, John served at Hewlett Packard Company from 1988-1995 in various operations and supply chain roles. John holds an MBA from Santa Clara University and a BBA in Logistics from Iowa State University.


Jonathan Sills joined us in May 1999 as Vice President, Strategy and Product Development. In July 2000, Jonathan became Vice President, Strategy and General Manager of Business Services and since December 2002 has served as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development. From October 1997 to May 1999, Jonathan worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. Jonathan holds an MS with distinction in History of Science and Technology from Oxford University and a BS in Engineering and Management Systems from Princeton University.


Rick Sliter joined us in July 2009 as Senior Vice President, Marketing Services. In this role, Rick oversees the RedEnvelope business unit, as well as our Creative, Merchandising, and Corporate Development departments. Prior to joining us, from January 2003 to October 2008, Rick held various leadership roles at HSBC Auto Finance, including the role of Senior Vice President and General Manager of their direct to consumer business. From 2001 to 2003, Rick served as a Product Line Manager for 3Com Corporation. Rick holds an MBA from The Anderson School at UCLA and a BA in Quantitative Economics and Decision Studies from The University of California at San Diego.


Lance Bobolz joined us in February 2006 as Director of Fulfillment Operations and Engineering. In 2008, he was promoted to Vice President of Fulfillment Operations. Prior to joining us, from June 1994 to February 2006, Lance served in various domestic and international positions within Gateway, Inc., most recently as the Director of Global Manufacturing Engineering. Prior to that, Lance held various engineering positions within the Interior Seating Division of Ford Motor Company. Lance holds an MS in Industrial and Management Systems Engineering and a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Nebraska.


Jeff Border joined us in April 2007 as Director of Supply Chain Quality and was promoted to Vice President of Supply Chain Sourcing and Quality in June 2010. Prior to joining us, Jeff worked at Gateway, Inc. where he was the Director of International Logistics. Jeff has an extensive background in the various functional areas of Operations and Supply Chain, including Planning, Procurement, Logistics, Fulfillment Operations, and Customer Care. Prior to Gateway, Jeff led numerous quality improvement and transformational activities within Operations at Apple Inc., AnswerThink Consulting Group, and Komag Corporation. Jeff holds a BS in Business Administration from University of Phoenix.


Brady Cale joined us in July 2004 as QA Automation Engineer and since then has served in a number of different Information Technology roles over the past six years, including Solutions Engineer, Platform Architect, Engineering Manager, and Director of Engineering. In March 2010, he became the Vice President of IT Solutions and Strategy. Prior to joining us, he worked on the QA Automation team at WebSense, Inc. a web, email and data security software company. Brady holds a BS in Computer Science from University of California at San Diego.


Clark Howard joined us in August 2004 as Vice President of Logistics and Supply Chain. Prior to joining us, from November 2002 to August 2004, Clark served as Vice President of Operations for Keeco LLC, a private label consumer products manufacturing company. From May 2000 to November 2002, Clark worked as Director of Worldwide Planning and Logistics for JDS Uniphase, a global manufacturer of optical communications products and equipment. From December 1997 to May 2000, he served as Director of Logistics for Williams-Sonoma, Inc. Clark holds an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.


Mark Irace joined us in April 1999 as Chief Analytical Officer. He then became Vice President of Acquisition in February 2000, and his role expanded to Vice President of Acquisition and Retention in July 2001. He became Vice President of Consumer Insights in December 2004 and in July 2005, Mark became Vice President of Marketing for the Gourmet Food Business Unit. Currently, Mark is the Vice President and General Manager of the Gourmet Foods Business Unit, a position he has held since June 2007. Prior to joining Provide Commerce, Mark developed domestic and international mailing strategies where he acquired many of publishing's largest volume mailers including National Geographic and Time Warner. He holds an MBA from the University of San Diego and a BS in Marketing from Miami University.


Stuart Ridge joined us in October 2005 as Manager of Site Optimization and Web Analytics. In May 2007, he was promoted to Director of Web Analytics and Site Testing and later to Vice President of Site Optimization in June 2009. Prior to joining us, from September 2004 to September 2005, Stuart served as Manager of Web Analytics for Sony Electronics. From January 2000 to August 2004, he worked at Gateway, Inc. as the Manager of Web Analytics. Stuart holds a BA in Management and Economics from the University of Northern Iowa.


Kevin Rooney joined us in September 2010 as Vice President of Merchandising for RedEnvelope. Kevin came to us with over 15 years experience in retail merchandising, product development/design and sourcing. Prior to joining us, from 2007 to 2010, he served as Vice President of Product Development and Design at JCPenney where he was responsible for leading the development of the private brand portfolio for home as well as leading the creation and development of the PD&D team and cross-functional process. From 1997 to 2007, Kevin was at Target where he held numerous buyer positions across different categories, and as the Senior Product Development Manager in the sourcing of hard home goods. Kevin holds a BS in Business Management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.


Greg Smith joined us in September 2006 as Vice President of Merchandising. Prior to joining us, from 2000 to 2006, he was the Director and Divisional Merchandise Manager (Tabletop division) for Williams-Sonoma Retail and a Senior Buyer (Tabletop and Furniture division) for Williams-Sonoma Mail Order from 1998 to 2000. From 1995-1998, Greg was a Senior Buyer of Animation Art and Collectibles for The Disney Store, Inc. Before then, from 1992-1995, he worked for Hallmark Cards, Inc. as the Creative Product Development Manager (Everyday Specialty division) and from 1989 to 1992 as the Merchandising Manager of Product Mix for Future Stores. Greg holds a BA from the University of California at Berkeley.
